Danny Longman (born January 1, 1987) is an English endurance athlete and ocean rower best known for his involvement in the Ocean Polar Row. He is an Ultra-Endurance Athlete Ambassador for clothing brand Helly Hansen.

2009 La Mondiale Atlantic Row

In 2009, Longman was a member of the 14-man 'La Mondiale' crew, skippered by Leven Brown. Approximately 1000 miles into the crossing, the journey was cut short by a collision with an unknown submerged object, widely reported to have been a whale.[1][2] The crew were safely evacuated onto the bulk carrier 'Island Ranger'. 'La Mondiale' was lost at sea.[3]

2017 Polar Row

As part of the 2017 Ocean Polar Row expedition, Longman rowed 1,251 nautical miles (1,440 mi; 2,317 km) across the Arctic Ocean. The 6 man team, which included double Olympic Gold medalist, Alex Gregory), rowed from Longyearbyen to the Arctic Ice Shelf (79'55'500 N) and then onto Jan Mayen. The Polar Row became the most record-breaking ocean row in history as well as the most record-breaking man-powered expedition, claiming over a dozen world records in total.[4]

2019 Lake District Openwater Swimming

In 2019 Longman set a new British Record for swimming the length of each of the 13 bodies of water in the Lake District, totalling 81km. Longman began the human-powered journey (cycling between lakes) at the southern end of Ullswater with Tom Elliott. Three and a half days later, Longman completed the challenge at Boran's Park near Ambleside, having swum Windermere in under 6 hours. Unfortunately, Elliott failed to complete the challenge.[5][6][7]
