Daniel Schlagwein is a Professor for Information Systems at the University of Sydney.[1] His research is focused on the fields of digital work, digital nomadism, crowdsourcing, and other emerging forms of work and organizing facilitated by information technology.[2] In this function, he regularly acts as speaker[3][4] or interview partner[5][6] for academic or media outlets. He holds membership in the Academy of Management (AOM) and the Association for Information Systems (AIS).

Regarding work in academic journal in information systems, together with Leslie Willcocks, Daniel Schlagwein is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information Technology[7], one of the top leading journals in the field of information systems research.[8]His work was published in leading information systems journals such as the Journal of the Association for Information Systems[9], the Information Systems Journal[10] or the European Journal of Information Systems.[11]

In terms of academic honour, Daniel Schlagwein has received a number of academic awards, including but not limited to Association for Information Systems (AIS)/International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) Senior Scholars’ Best Information Systems Paper of 2019 Award Nomination, Elsevier/The Journal of Strategic Information Systems Best Paper of the Year 2017 Award, Association for Information Systems (AIS)/International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) Senior Scholars; Best Information Systems Paper of 2017 Award, Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) SIG-SI/Rob Kling Centre for Social Informatics 2017 Social Informatics Best Paper Award.
