Dana Nehdaran (Persian: دانا نهداران; born 1982[1]) is an Iranian-American postwar and cotemporary painter, photographer and video artist[2]. He is based in New York City[3].
Early life and education
Dana (Rahmatollah) Nehdaran was born into an Iranian Jewish family in 1982 in Chaharbagh, Isfahan, Iran. Coming from an artistic heritage, he started attending painting classes at the age of 9 and later on studied Persian Carpet design, followed by a BA in Painting from the Soureh Art University in Shiraz, granted in 2007 [4]. His first exhibition, The Inside Layers, was held at the Morteza Momayyez Gallery in Tehran in 2008[5]. In 2010, his next exhibition called "My Monal Lisa", in which he used various techniques and colors to create 15 paintings inspired by the Mona Lisa was held at the Nar Gallery in Tehran[6]. In 2011, he made the short list for the Magic of Persia Contemporary Art Prize (MOP CAP)[7][8].
He moved to New York City in 2015 and resides in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood[9].
