Dan Dernulc (born on May 11, 1963) is an American politician. He is currently a member of the Indiana State Senate, representing Indiana's 1st Senate district. He assumed office on November 9, 2022. He won in the general election defeating the incumbent Michael Griffin on November 8, 2022. He is the first Republican candidate to be elected in Indiana's 1st Senate district representing Lake County in 27 years.

Biography

State Sen. Dan Dernulc has represented Senate District 1 since his election to the General Assembly in 2022. Senate District 1 includes a portion of Lake County in northern Indiana. Dernulc serves on the Senate Committees on Education and Career Development; Environmental Affairs; Local Government; and Pensions and Labor. As a lifelong resident of Highland, Dernulc has had the opportunity to serve his community on the Highland Town Council, Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission and the Lake County Council. Dernulc is also a graduate of Purdue University Northwest (formerly Purdue University Calumet) and holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. With his education, Dernulc has an extensive understanding of the telecommunications industry and currently works as a project manager in corporate security at AT&T. He and his wife, Cindy, live in Highland where they raised four children and now have three grandchildren.
