Damola Ademola is a Nigerian filmmaker, marketing strategist, and co-founder[1] of Inkblot Productions , a film and television production company in Nigeria. He made his directorial debut with the psychological thriller A Weekend to Forget in 2023.

Career

Marketing and Advertising

Before working in film, Damola had a career in advertising and marketing that spanned over 17 years. He was involved in projects across finance, consumer goods, telecommunications, and entertainment sectors, with a focus on brand strategy and campaign development.[2]

Inkblot Productions

In 2010, Ademola co-founded Inkblot Productions alongside Chinaza Onuzo and Zulumoke Oyibo.[3] The company has produced several theatrical films and television series.[4] Among its commercially released titles are The Wedding Party and A Lagos Love Story. The Wedding Party was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and became a box office success in Nigeria.[5]

In December 2021, Inkblot signed an exclusive output deal with Amazon Prime Video, becoming the one of the first African studios to do so.[6][7] Additionally, the company was commissioned by Netflix to create the young adult series Far From Home, which premiered in December 2022.[8][9][10]

Directorial Debut

Damola Ademola made his directorial debut with A Weekend to Forget, a psychological thriller released in September 2023.[11][12] The film follows a group of friends on a weekend trip that turns tragic after one of them is found dead. The story was conceived by Damola Ademola and Chiemeka Osuagwu, with a screenplay by Joy Isi Bewaji. The cast includes Daniel Etim-Effiong, Ini Dima-Okojie, Stan Nze, Erica Nlewedim, Elozonam Ogbolu, Uche Montana, Neo Akpofure, and Akin Lewis.[13]

The film was distributed theatrically and later released on Amazon Prime Video.[14]
