Damian Latimer Clarke (born January, 1971) is a writer, editor and publisher based in Sydney, Australia. He is also a keen recreational seaman and keeps a boat in Rushcutters Bay, near the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.[1]
Writing and editing
Journalism
As a journalist, he covers sustainability in the built environment for The Fifth Estate[2] and The Green List,[3] and occasionally contributes to other publications[4]. He undertakes copywriting work for a variety of clients and agencies[5] and has edited several books[6].
As a writer/researcher for HWW, early in his career he wrote 30 columns per month for various Sydney and Australian newspapers and magazines.[7]
Blogging
In 2006, he started the Our Albion blog to share the story of renovating the house his wife and he purchased in London. Contributions to the blog reduced over the years[8] and it was finally taken down after being hacked and damaged. In 2019, he started re-publishing content from Our Albion on Medium[9], to coincide with the 13th anniversary of each post. His other work on Medium includes 97 Things I Learned as a Stay-at-home Dad,[10] and The Collected Works of Don Jenkins[11], where the publishes the work of his late stepfather. he also contributes to Medium as DC Latimer[12], where he writes The Writers Block Project].[13]
He was also the critic behind Universal Critic [14] and teamed up with Damien Edmonds, co-founder of Edmonds Marketing[15], to write opinion pieces for A Couple of Punters[16].
Editing
He has edited business books for several authors on subjects as diverse as international business, software testing, the photocopying and printing industry and computer software.
Publishing
Credit
Clarke was publisher of Credit magazine, a multi-channel - events, magazines, books and online - publication about the wholesale Credit markets, owned by Incisive Media, from 2007 to 2008. He worked with author Nikki Marmery[17] who was the magazine's editor at the time.
Creditflux
From 2004 to 2007, he was the publisher of Creditflux,[18] a multi-channel - magazines, books and online - publication for wholesale credit derivatives traders, working for its proprietor, Mike Peterson.
The collected Works of Don Jenkins
In his own right, Clarke published The Collected Works of Don Jenkins, on Medium,[19] a vanity project in memory of his stepfather.
Business Career[20]
Clarke started his career as a writer/researcher, running the Property Divison at HWW Limited, a media company that contributed to most Australian major daily newspapers and several monthly magazines.
From there he moved into medical device Design and Development with Cochlear Limited, where he was the firm's first Technical Writer, working on software documentation and help files, marketing materials and regulatory submissions, including what is believed to be the first real-time 510(k) Premarket Notification submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration (for the Nucleus 24 ESPrit ear-level speech processor).
Subsequently, he worked at Molten Markets, aggregating wholesale debt and equity broker research for funds managers, before returning to medical devices as a consultant in regulatory affairs, communication and quality systems to clients that included ResMed, Tinnitech and Neuromonics.
He moved to the UK in 2006 where was the publisher of Credit and Creditflux until the Global financial crisis when returned to medical devices, industrial and non-destructive test equipment and consumer goods as Quality Manager at the Olympus KeyMed Group.[21]
Since returning to Australia in 2012, Clarke has been a freelance writer, journalist and publisher.

Education
Clarke spent his first years of school at Prouille Catholic School, Wahroonga, moved to the St Ives preparatory school for Sydney Grammar School in Year 3 and St Ignatius' College, Riverview in Year 7, where he shared classes with politicians Anthony Roberts, Jason Falinski, Joe Francis, basketballer Tony De Ambrosis and touch footballer Andrew Roughan[22].
He has a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Information Science from the University of Technology Sydney.
Personal Life
Damian is married to a woman who he calls Mrs Albion on his Our Albion blog[23] or simply, my wife, in other writing, though he identified her as the banker, Kate Birchall in a tweet on 2016.[24] He has a son[25] and a daughter[26] who he mentions in his writing, but rarely, if ever, by name.
Sailing
From 2010, Clarke was active in Ocean Racing, participating in several major races in the UK and Australia, including the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, The Fastnet Race and the Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race.
