The DAK JAM Music and Arts Festival is an annual four-day nostalgic 80s, 90s, and 2000s music festival developed and produced by Bev Naps Events, Inc. The next DAK JAM is scheduled for August 11-14th, 2021.
DAK JAM's first year in 2019 was held in a parking lot and is now located at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot, North Dakota. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival was ultimately canceled.[1] Main attractions of this festival are the multiple stages featuring live music of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s including musical styles such as rock music|rock, pop music|pop, independent music|indie, hip hop music|hip hop, electronic dance music, alternative rock, indie rock, contemporary R&B|R&B, electronic music|electronic, heavy metal music|metal, funk, and country music|country. Musical acts will begin Wednesday afternoon and continue throughout the festival with performances starting each day around 2:00pm, and some stages entertaining into the dark for the Nights of Nostalgia.[2]
History
Michael Miller, founder of Bev Naps Events, Inc., who came up with the concept of DAK JAM took his passion to a college classroom in Minot, North Dakota and the inspiration of the festival came together. Miller having previously put on the concert Rockin' The Lot with acts such as Hairball[3], eventually shifted to what was the beginning of DAK JAM that was put on in a parking lot. DAK JAM was the first ever Music and Arts Festival in Minot, North Dakota. The festival consisted of two nights of nostalgia performances by cover bands of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s such as Hairball[3], Pop Rocks (MN)[4], Captain Geech (Minot, ND).[5][2]
As of May 2021, DAK JAM announced the festival will be put on at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds over August 11-14th, 2021 including multiple national musical acts, interactive art, and camping.[2] Additionally, the inclusion of DAK JAM Lites being held at the Freight House, the alley way behind the restaurant High Third[6] in Minot, North Dakota with cover band musical acts like Rhino [7] on June 13th, Redemption Road [8] on June 20th, Junk FM [9] on June 27th, Pop Rocks [4] on July 11th, and Hairball[3] on July 18th.
