Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel (born 2011) is a American police officer and Secret Service agent from Houston, Texas, known for his journey as he battles terminal brain and spine cancer. Despite his diagnosis, DJ has pursued his dream of becoming a law enforcement officer by being sworn in as an honorary member of over 900 law enforcement agencies across the United States.[1][2]
DJ Daniel was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in Houston. Described as an outspoken, friendly, and loving child, DJ was diagnosed with terminal brain and spine cancer, leading to 13 brain surgeries and advanced stages of cataracts.[3]
DJ's admiration for law enforcement led him to set a goal of being sworn in by 100 agencies. Surpassing this goal, he has been honored by over 900 local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies. His honorary roles include being a graduate of the FBI National Academy's Session 284 and appearing on the cover of Blue Magazine. In December 2024, the Jasper Police Department and the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department made DJ an honorary member, presenting him with a key to the city and a proclamation recognizing his courage and positive outlook. In an Address to a Joint Session of Congress, US President Donald Trump made him an honorary Secret Service agent.[4][5]
