Early life, family, & education

Parks was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and her family has roots in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She earned a political communication degree from Louisiana State University[2], where she contributed to several publications on the roots of propaganda in America. Parks received her Master of Public Policy degree from the Harvard Kennedy School. She contributed to various publications while at Harvard, including a handbook to provide political campaigns with the tools to combat misinformation and disinformation.

Career

Parks started her national career at SKDK, working closely with Anita Dunn and Hilary Rosen. While at SKDK, she took meetings at the White House and was involved in historic electoral campaigns. Parks went on to serve in fundraising and partnerships roles on United States Senate campaigns, including those of former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu and Vice President Kamala Harris. Later in her career, she returned to SKDK as Senior Vice President.[3]

Founding 1000 MORE

Parks developed the 1000 MORE civic technology web application[4] as a one-stop shop for constituents. The platform provides short, nonpartisan summaries of legislation coming up for a vote. Users can also find the popular arguments for and against bills, find and contact their elected officials, and crowdfund advocacy on legislation. Elected officials have a separate interface where they can track how their constituents want them to vote on each bill. Advocacy organizations can access a separate interface to crowdfund legislative efforts.
