Cundaim is a small village of 776 hectares in Ponda Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Cundaim depends on PONDA, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and One spring. Cundaim is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Cundaim's pin code is 403115[5], and village code is 00020200. The area of Cundaim is segregated as 68.1 hectares irrigated area, 353.53 hectares unirrigated, the 119.55 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 235.15 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Cundaim has One post office (Cundiam B.O) and Eight public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Cundaim has One bank and One credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with One recreational center.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics

Cundaim is a census village in the district of North Goa, Goa. The village has a total population of 3859 and has total administration over 913 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Scheduled caste counts for 79 (2.05%) males constitute 41 (1.06%) of the population and females 38 (0.98%).

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of PONDA and North Goa to sell chillies and make their living.
