Cristov Dosev (born October 21, 1961) a real estate developer and political activist in Pensacola, Florida.[1] A Republican, Dosev ran unsuccessfully for the Florida House of Representatives and the United States House of Representatives.[2][3]

Early life and education

Dosev is a veteran of the Marine Corps[4] and attended the University of Florida, graduating in 1984 with an engineering degree.

Career and activism

Dosev has run in 3 Republican primaries for legislative office; he has lost all three.[5] He is an active leader for veteran causes in Pensacola.[6]

In 2018, Dosev faced criticism for falsely claiming to have been endorsed by former President Donald Trump[7] and then criticizing Trump for his infidelities and never serving in the military.[8] Dosev was supported in his campaign by Bill Kristol[9] a well known opponent of the former President.

In 2020, Dosev made news when he attempted to block the driveway of a Pensacola abortion clinic to prevent the spread of COVID-19.[10]

He made national news in 2020 when he alleged someone placed a hot dog laced with toothpicks on his porch in an attempt to kill his dog, Maverick.[11] Dosev also received statewide backlash when he ran television ads labelled homophobic and transphobic by Equality Florida and others.[12]

Dosev is a frequent contributor and editorialist for the Pensacola News Journal[13] and local news outlets.[14][15] After an attack at NAS Pensacola, Dosev called on the Navy to close the base to Saudi trainees.[16] He is a frequent critic of Matt Gaetz.[17] He once opined that Gaetz removed his own license to practice law, before it was renewed.[18] In 2020, he called on Gaetz to resign from Congress.[19] He also accused Gaetz of defrauding veterans in his district.[20]

He is actively leading the effort to privately fund the construction of a park and statue in honor of General Daniel "Chappie" James in Pensacola,[21] the first black 4 star general in the U.S. Military.[22] He recently announced a collaboration with Ed Dwight to sculpt the statue of General James.[23]
