Craig Wong is a Jamaican-Chinese chef, restaurateur, and Television Personality.

Personal life

Wong was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. His parents emigrated to Canada in the early 1970s from Jamaica.[1] He married hair & makeup artist Ivy Lam in 2011.[2]

Career

Education

After graduating high school, Wong attended L’Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France, where he graduated with honors.[3] [4]

Restaurants

Wong has consistently worked in restaurants since his time in Lyon, France. He worked in Michelin starred restaurants including Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athenee and trained in Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck.He worked for 10 years at Luma and Senses in Toronto, Ontario, before opening his first restaurant Patois Toronto in 2014. [5][6][7] He temporarily opened Jackpot Chicken Rice to employ his staff in 2016 after a fire at Patois led to closure for several months before closing it in 2018.[8] Wong is the executive chef of Ting Irie, Dubai’s first Jamaican Restaurant.[9] Wong opened Bar Mignonette in 2020.[10]

Television Appearances

Wong is the host of of Gusto TV's Cook Like a Chef and CombiNation Plates and is a regular guest on the Marilyn Denis Show.[11][12][13][14]
