Coolbet is an online gambling brand offering sports betting, online casino and online poker. The company was founded by Norwegian gambling entrepreneur Jan Svendsen and launched its online platform in May 2016.[1][2]

In January 2021, GAN Limited acquired Vincent Group p.l.c., the parent company of Coolbet, for $175.9 million (€149.1 million) in cash and shares.[3] GAN was subsequently acquired by Sega Sammy Creation, a subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings, in May 2025.[4]

History

StayCool OÜ, the Estonian company that operates Coolbet in Estonia, was registered on 12 March 2015.[5] Coolbet was founded by Jan Svendsen, who had previously founded Nordic Gaming Group, the operator of NordicBet and TrioBet.[2]

The Coolbet.com platform launched in May 2016.[2] By September 2020, it had more than 335,000 registered customers and operated in eight national markets: Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Chile, Peru and Canada.[2]

Coolbet developed its own online gambling platform and proprietary sportsbook technology. Its services included sports betting, online casino games and peer-to-peer poker.[2]

In November 2020, GAN Limited announced an agreement to acquire Vincent Group p.l.c., Coolbet's parent company.[6]

The acquisition was completed in January 2021 for a total purchase price of $175.9 million (€149.1 million) in cash and stock.[3] Following the acquisition, Coolbet became GAN's business-to-consumer gambling operation, with activities in Northern Europe, Canada and Latin America.[3]

On 27 May 2025, Sega Sammy Creation completed its acquisition of GAN Limited. GAN consequently became a consolidated subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings.[4]

Operations

Coolbet operates online sports betting, casino and poker products. GAN described Coolbet's sportsbook technology and gambling platform as proprietary.[2]

The company has been headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia.[2] Independent reporting in 2018 also described Coolbet's head office as being located in Tallinn.[1]

At the time of GAN's 2020 filings, Coolbet operated in Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Chile, Peru and Canada.[2] GAN reported that Coolbet held gambling licences in Estonia, Malta and Sweden.[2]

In Estonia, Coolbet is operated by StayCool OÜ. The Estonian Tax and Customs Board lists StayCool OÜ and Coolbet among the country's legal gambling operators.[7]
