Cooking Diary is a free-to-play restaurant simulation video game developed and published by MYTONA. It was released on August 8, 2018..[1]

The game is set in the fictional city of Tasty Hills. As a chef, the player unlocks various restaurants to develop a business chain in the city. In addition, there are numerous in-game events, including guild quests, which allow players to compete with each other in teams.[2]

On March 19, 2020, the game won the People's Choice Award at the 15th International Mobile Gaming Awards.[3] Then, on May 19, 2020, at the 24th international Webby Awards, the game received the People's Voice Award.[4]

Gameplay

The fundamental game mechanic is built on serving dishes to the customers within the allocated amount of time. To level up, the player needs to complete certain goals.[5] Completing levels is also tied to advancing the game's storyline.[6]

Customization

The game allows players to customize their characters[7] and restaurants[8]. Outside of the main gameplay, the player can customize the appearance of their in-game character. There are more than 300 articles of clothing and accessories available[8]. The player can also edit the interiors of the restaurants using different objects. These objects include flooring, wallpapers, and various decoration pieces[9]. Objects obtained grant perks within the game's prestige system.[10]

In-game events

There are three in-game events: The Food Truck event, the Culinary Tournament, and Guild Quests. In the Food Truck event, there are two counters for ordering, which differs from the main gameplay. This event is time-limited and recurring. As players make progress along the Food Truck route, they can receive a variety of rewards: exclusive outfits, unique hairstyles, boosters, banknotes, and rubies. The Culinary Tournament allows players to compete against each other by completing specific tasks. The higher the position in the TOP, the better the reward. Guild Quests are a special regular event available to all guild members that lets them rise in the game ranks. Players can win valuable in-game rewards such as coins, banknotes, or rubies. Restaurants There are currently more than 40 restaurants with a wide variety of cuisines available in Cooking Diary[2].
