Conti Street
Conti street is a pretty long street located in New Orleans, Louisiana in the United States of America. It is a street in the middle of New Orleans that stretches from east to west. This street is pretty significant because it runs through a good part of New Orleans. With that being said since conti street runs threw a lot of New Orleans out is significant because it can bring in a lot of money into the city due to how many miles it stretches. It also has some diversity to it because of the different races that live in the community it isn’t just the black community. It also runs threw so many different businesses that it can bring a lot of money into the city of New Orleans Throughout the long street that stretches for more than a mile you will see many different murals in and out of the different communities due to the fact that a lot of them hold significant meaning in different neighborhoods throughout the community. Due to the fact that Conti street is long there are many different races that live throughout the community as a whole. It can be pretty diverse in certain sections of the long street. With that being said there is a large mural on Conti street that has many different races all over it that is there to represent how diverse the community can be.
History of Conti Street.
Louise Elizabeth De Bourbon was Louis de Bourbon's daughter with his wife Louise Francoise de Bourbon. She was the princess by marriage when she married Louis Armand de Bourbon, prince of Conti. The princess's name was given to a street in New Orleans, Louisiana. To this day the street name still hasn’t been renamed by the city. Also Conti street was also the first location for the south’s first black newspaper, and America’s first black daily called The New Orleans Tribune.
Conti Street Currently
Currently there are different parts of conti street where the road is so bad that they are having to re-due the streets right now. The city has put 4.3 million dollars into repairing different sections of conti street. Different parts of conti street are blocked off due to the fact that it is being repaired. The city of New Orleans has plans to start digging up the 700 block of Conti street which is located between Bourbon street and Royal street. This plan will involve replacing many different things such as sewers, gas pipes, underground water, and rebuilding the entire block. Also they will be conducting utility roadwork.
Things to see While on Conti Street
This street is not as popular as bourbon , and canal street but while driving down it you will run into many different things while on your way to your destination. Things that you will run into on your drive are Domino's pizza, tire shops, dollar tree, Panera bread, Ikura Hibachi, The New Orleans School of Music, New Orleans boxing club, and many other four and five star attractions.
