Natural resource conservation and biodiversity conservation are two concepts that are studied together in conservation biology. The goal of conservation biology is to protect species, their habitats, and ecosystems from extinctions at an alarming rate, as well as the erosion of biotic interactions between organisms. Nature, social sciences, and the practise of natural resource management are all included into this multidisciplinary topic.

It is based on the discoveries of conservation biology that the conservation ethic exists.
