Commercial property, also known as commercial real estate, investment property, or immense financial, is real estate (buildings or land) that is designed to produce a profit, either via capital gains or rental income. Commercial property is a kind of real estate that is used to make a profit. A commercial property may contain everything from office buildings to medical facilities to hotels to shopping malls to retail shops to multifamily housing to agricultural land to warehouses to garages. A residential property that has more than a specified number of units qualifies as commercial property for the purposes of borrowing money and paying taxes in many jurisdictions.

commercial buildings are structures that are utilised for commercial purposes. Examples of commercial buildings include office buildings, warehouses, and retail structures (e.g. convenience shops, large box stores, and shopping malls). In metropolitan areas, a commercial building may mix services, such as offices on the second through tenth floors with shops on the first floor. When a substantial amount of space is dedicated to various purposes, these structures are referred to be multi-use. Local governments often enforce stringent restrictions on commercial zoning and have the power to designate any designated area as a commercial zone; a business must be situated in a commercial area or an area classified at least partly for commerce in order to be legally permitted to operate there.
