Comic novels are works of funny literature that are novel-length in length. In addition to P. G. Wodehouse and Henry Fielding, Mark Twain and John Kennedy Toole are among the writers who have created humorous novels.... Comic novels are often characterised by the author's creative decision to make the focus of the work - whether in its narration or narrative - humorous or sarcastic in nature, regardless of the alleged seriousness of the subjects covered in the book. In spite of the fact that many books may include comical or hilarious sections or themes, the distinguishing feature of this genre is that comedy serves as the foundation and baseline of the narrative rather than as an occasional or recurrent element. Literature academics differentiate textual analysis on the basis of this distinction; the idea is that a tale by Mark Twain that is sarcastic criticism in its very origins must be interpreted differently from a novelistic plot that is more literal in its interpretation.
