The process of two or more individuals, entities, or organisations working together towards the completion of a task or the accomplishment of a goal is referred to as collaboration. The concept of collaboration is somewhat similar to that of cooperation. The vast majority of successful collaborations need some kind of leadership, [vague] even if that leadership takes the shape of social authority within a decentralised and egalitarian setting. When competing for limited resources, teams who work together to accomplish their goals are more likely to be successful in acquiring those resources, as well as the accolades and incentives associated with those successes.

The use of structured ways of cooperation encourages reflection of behaviour as well as communication. These kinds of strategies are geared on maximising the level of achievement that may be attained by groups of people working together to solve an issue. Even though this is not a typical use of the word, there is cooperation going on even when the aims being pursued are in direct opposition to one another. This demonstrates the concept of antagonistic collaboration. A kind of cooperation between two distinct civilizations that results in the production of a diverse range of commodities and their subsequent exchange is what we refer to as international trade.
