Clothing industry

The term "clothing industry" or "garment industry" refers to the various types of trade and industry that are involved in the production and value chain of clothing and garments. This chain begins with the textile industry (which includes producers of cotton, wool, fur, and synthetic fibre), continues through the fashion industry to apparel retailers, and finally culminates in trade involving second-hand clothes and textile recycling. The producing sectors built upon a plethora of clothing technology, some of which, like the loom, the cotton gin, and the sewing machine, heralded the industrialization not just of the prior textile manufacturing practises but also of other manufacturing practises across the board. Allied industries, fashion industries, garment industries, and soft goods industries are some of the other names for the industries that produce clothing.
