The city of Clearwater may be found in Pinellas County, Florida, in the United States. It is situated to the northwest of Tampa and St. Petersburg. The Gulf of Mexico may be found to the west of Clearwater, while Tampa Bay can be found to the southeast of the city. The city has a total population of 117,292 residents as per the census completed in the year 2020. Clearwater is the smallest of the three major cities that make up the Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater metropolitan region, which is more often referred to as the Tampa Bay Area. Clearwater serves as the county seat for Pinellas County, and it is also the county seat for Pinellas County.

One of the oldest roads in the city is called Cleveland Street, and BayCare Ballpark and Coachman Park are also located inside the municipal limits. Clearwater Beach is located on the other side of the Intracoastal Waterway from the city itself.

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium may be found in the city of Clearwater.

Clearwater is the location of the worldwide headquarters of the Church of Scientology, which was established there in 1954.

As of the year 2000, there were 84.43% of citizens who spoke English as their first language, 8.55% of people spoke Spanish as their mother tongue, 1.15% of persons spoke Greek, 1.00% of residents spoke French, 0.97% spoke German, and 0.85% of residents spoke Italian.

The economy of Clearwater provides jobs for around 50,400 people. Honeywell, Tech Data, and Morton Plant Hospital are some of the most important employers in the area. Employment in the city of Clearwater increased by 1.84 percent between the years 2015 and 2016, reaching a total of 50,345 persons. Service, Sales and Office, Science, and Business are the four most frequent employment categories in the United States. The median income for a household in Clearwater is $44,569, which is lower than both the average for the United States as a whole as well as the average for the state of Florida.
