Clayton Williamson is an Australian actor. He is best known for his starring roles in several children's television series in the late 1980's and early 1990's.[1]

Career

Early career

After appearing in television commercials for Toyworld and Uncle Tobys as a young child, Williamson was cast in the 1988 ABC TV mini-series Hills End which was adapted from 1962 children's book by Ivan Southall.[3][4]

He starred as Peter in the 1988 Touch the Sun television film Peter and Pompey which aired on ABC TV.[5]

The following year, Williamson appeared in the ABC TV mini-series Bodysurfer.[6]

Alongside Rebecca Smart, Williamson starred as Julian "Jools" Trevaller in the 1990 series Elly & Jools created by Posie Graeme-Evans.[7]

In 1992, Williamson starred as foster child Simon Gunner in the series Clowning Around.[8]

Later career

Williamson is an active member of Woy Woy Little Theatre and has performed in many of the theatre's productions.[9][10][11]

Since 2022, he has hosted the podcast Yarn About You which has featured guests such as Maxine Klibingaitis, Liz Mullinar and Vivienne Garrett.[12]

Personal life

Williamson was born in Sydney and is a Kamilaroi man.[2] He is currently based on the New South Wales Central Coast.[2] He is employed by a company that specialises in services to assist young Aboriginal people.[2]

Since 2021, Williamson has served as a member of the Aboriginal committee for the annual 5 Lands Walks event on the Central Coast and has served as the organisation's vice-president of culture and community liaison.[2]
