History

Originally formed in 2009 founding members Luke Henry, Adam Bolger and Matthew Barnett started experimenting with the sounds which would soon become CityLightz writing debut track Thousand Dreams. The band had a short run of local success championed by BBC Introducing West Midlands and included in the ones to watch in 2019 and a successful run of local shows including the O2 academy Birmingham. The band hand split due to commitments but was later reformed in 2018 Writing a new set of songs with a different sound including re-debut single “They Don’t know Me” The band kicked off their new campaign supporting[1] Alabama 3 at the O2 academy Birmingham which was the start of the new CityLightz who later went on to support[2] Shotty Horroh and then Headline the O2 Academy themselves. After recording multiple demo songs at RB Studios in Birmingham the band wanted to take their sound to the next level with a more live feel to the music. In March 2019 CityLightz booked into[3] Abbey Road Studios to record a set of 4 songs Including They Don’t Know me, James’ Tune, Victims and the Victors and Swinging Bombs. The 4 tracks would later be known as the bands debut EP Rock n Road The EP was heavily supported by[4]BBC introducing and was soon released to CD and a short limited exclusive Vinyl run (250 Copies) which was available in selected[5] HMV stores across the UK. The band are well know for their social media presence especially on twitter where they have a high engagement and a reputation for being a cheeky bunch but very humorous.
