Chun-Mei Hsu (born 1948) is a Taiwanese Paiwan traditional weaver.

Life

Hsu was born in the Kuljaljau tribe of Laiyi, Pingtung County, to the Paiwan lja pacekelje family. Her great-grandmother, Sakaljalju, was a professional weaver.

When she was young, she learned from her grandmother, her mother, Puljingaw, and father, Chung-Yi Hsu (qebau).[1]

In 1994, Chun-Mei Hsu returned to her hometown to set up a studio and learned weaving from Chu-Lan ChenFan (Tjinuai) of the same tribe.[2] In 2021, she was recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a preserver of the important traditional craft of Paiwan tjemenun traditional weaving.[3]
