Chrys Columbine is a British musician, actress, burlesque artist, model, and producer. In her signature act she combines playing classical piano with the art of burlesque. She has performed throughout the world, including taking the first burlesque show to Lebanon.[1]

Early Life

Columbine was born to an Italian father who was a classical guitarist, and a Japanese mother who was an interpreter. While growing up on a North London council estate she was exposed to different cultures from a young age, whilst visiting family all over the world. She trained in classical ballet, singing, acting, and competed at national level in swimming and karate. At the age of ten she began piano lessons, later attending the junior Guildhall School Of Music, and performing solo piano concertos with youth orchestras. She also trained at Italia Conti of Theatre Arts. Columbine graduated with a BA Hours degree from University Of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. She worked briefly as the keyboardist of Gothic Rock band Nosferatu (band)|Nosferatu, and toured with them all over Europe throughout 2006.[2]

Career

In 2007 Columbine made her burlesque debut in London at thriving burlesque restaurant and club Volupte,[3] and a few months later performed in front of two-thousand people at Download Festival. Her combination of classical piano and burlesque gained her recognition at a time when the burlesque revival was causing a stir in the media. Columbine's press appearances include: The Daily Mail,[1] The Guardian,[4] Harpers Bazaar,[5] Pinup Girl Style,[6] and on the cover of Burlesque Bible magazine[2]. In 2008 Columbine headlined a burlesque show in a theatre in Dublin, and was invited onto notorious TV chat show The Podge and Rodge Show, which was viewed by 2-million people. Columbine went on to tour in the UK,[7] [8] [9] Europe,[10] [11] [12] [13] West-Coast America[14] and Australia,[15] and in 2010 became the poster girl and a headliner on the still-running An Evening Of Burlesque theatre tour of UK and Europe.[16] After visiting the United Arab Emirates Columbine was determined to get a big burlesque show on a stage somewhere in the Middle East and, successfully marketing herself as a classical pianist with a twist, she took her show to The Act, Dubai's most popular dinner-show on the highest theatre stage in the world, the 42nd floor of The Shangri-La.[17] Later that year on a visit to Lebanon, she was head-hunted by a British journalist and ended up being interviewed and on the cover of The Daily Star[18] (Lebanon's most-prestigious English newspaper). In November 2015 she achieved her aim with her own show The Art Of Burlesque at Casino du Liban,</ref> for two nights.[19] [20] [21] It was awarded rave revues and full TV coverage on MTV Lebanon on NYE 2016.[3] Columbine is the owner of All Talents Music Academy where she and her team of teachers teach piano and guitar. She also moonlights as a personal trainer.[4]
