Christoph Watrin was born on (August 7, 1988 in Cologne, Germany). Christoph is a German singer, choir director and musician. He was best known for being a member in multinational boy band US5.

Christoph doesn't only make pop music, he also make street music.

Early Life

Christoph was born and raised in Cologne. Chris's mother(Evelyn) is a teacher and Chris's father is a salesman and Chris also has a sister named Eva.

Christoph Watrin has had professional piano lessons since he was five years old. At the age of eleven he was on stage as a soloist with the Cologne children's choir Lucky Kids for a singing competition on WDR television and took first place. A year later he stood alongside Anke Engelke in front of an audience of 2,000 in the Cologne Philharmonic and sang The Jackson 5's hit "Blame It on the Boogie". As a soloist and member of the Cologne Youth Choir St. Stephan, television appearances on WDR and ARD followed , e.g. in cooperation with the Bläck Fööss and Höhner.

Christoph enjoys many types of songs and participated in a Gospel Choir before joining US5. Christoph was offered to make a recording at the age of 14, but Chris was forced to turn down the offer.

Career

2005-2008: US5

At the age of 16, Christoph Watrin prevailed against 5,000 male applicants for a place in the international boy band US5 and convinced Lou Pearlman, the founder of the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, of his talent. He took part in the program Big In America, which was broadcast on RTL II and VIVA as well as on English television. With the group US5, Christoph Watrin sold more than two million records worldwide within three years and achieved gold status in Germany, Austria and Poland as well as platinum status in Germany.[1] With nine singles and two albums, US5 reached the top 10 positions in the German album and single charts . With their debut hit "Maria" they were at the top of the German charts for five weeks in a row. For US5, Christoph worked on two titles as a composer and author.

While on the show, Chris decided to leave his girlfriend, Jana, and focus entirely on music career with his group.

In August 2008, Christoph decided to leave the band due to burnout syndrome. In what was stated by Jay Khan (his US5 bandmate), stated that he did not like his work anymore and that Christoph had never experienced the Burnout Syndrome that he had stated. On being mentioned by US5 bandmate Richie also stated that it came from his family who didn't like Christoph in this career and that's how Christoph left the US5 Group.

2009-Present: Solo Career

Christoph started making street music under the name "StadtkinT" and with the hit single "Rot Grün Blau"( which means "Red, Green, Blue" in English).[2] He also got his high school diploma on the second educational path in Berlin. He processed the experiences of the years at his former group and his then current phase of life in German-language songs with autobiographical texts. The manager of the German duo Rosenstolz became aware of Christoph and encouraged his development as a solo artist and musician. He was also supported and inspired by music producer Ron Dohanetz.

After graduating from high school, Christoph studied social and business communication at the UdK and also continued his education in the areas of photography, camera work and film editing .

In 2014, Christoph joined Pharrell Williams as a member of the New Life Gospel Choir on Wetten, dass..?[3] with the world hit "Happy". As part of the TV report Phenomenon Boybands, he was also part of the band US5 on VOX in 2014.[4] Since 2013, Christoph has led a choir of people with multiple mental disabilities for the Diakonie Michaelshoven in Cologne,[5] with whom he performs at summer and street festivals in Cologne and the surrounding area.[6] In May 2014, he successfully led the Michaelshoven Choir to its first public appearance. He also appears as a singer at church festivals.[7] He reunited with former bandmate Jay Khan in 2016.

He has been studying elementary music education at the Cologne University of Music and Dance since 2016.[8]

For 2019 he announced his debut studio album The Rise. Also, the song "Goodbye Maria" appeared alongside his former bandmate Izzy Gallegos as Izzy & Chris.

Christoph's favorite singers are Michael Jackson, Mario, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, and Dustin Hoffman. Famous people he imitates are Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Gary Garrison (dance coach) and Gary Williams.

Public Image

Chris is light blond, with natural blue-green eyes. He once stated in a magazine interview that fame has made him arrogant and that he finds it hard to trust people because he is afraid that they only see Chris from US5 and not the real him.

Personal Life

Although Christoph is a well-known musician, he still lives with his parents.

Christoph is currently single. He hasn't had anyone since he broke up with Jan. He admitted that he is looking for a girl who will love him for himself and not for his money. His best friend is his bandmate Richie Stringini. He likes singing, dancing, listening to music, photography, surfing at the beach because it allows him to stay fit and surfing the Internet in his spare time.
