Christine Downs (born June 13, 1966) is an American writer, attorney, world traveler and animal lover.

Downs was born in Kankakee, Illinois. She studied history and journalism at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She attended Loyola University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. She is a member of the bar in California and Illinois and is a veteran of over 400 trials. She is corporate counsel for NCompass International, a dynamic international marketing company based in Los Angeles.

Downs is an award-winning screenwriter and recipient of the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for her screenplay Victory Road, which was also a finalist in the American Screenwriter’s Association/Writer’s Digest Screenwriting Competition. She has received 17 screenwriting competition awards. Her most recent feature film script was co-written with Ra Dreyfus and is in pre-production at Miramax.    Downs wrote and produced Kids Go To Court, an educational video created to prepare child witnesses for court. It is distributed by TMW Media Group.

Ms. Downs is the President and founder of Bark Party, a 501(3)(c) Los Angeles-based non-profit that rescues dogs and cats from high-kill animal shelters and finds them fur-ever homes.

She recently completed her first novel, The Grave of Violette Martin.

She is married to Glenn H. Weissman, M.D.
