Chris Torres, (Born Christopher Torres in Glasgow on the 2nd March 1975) is a Scottish author, public speaker, and entrepreneur within the tourism sector, with a focus on the tours and activities sector. He co-founded The Tourism Marketing Agency (TMA) [1] on 1st February 2008, then known as Dojo Design Studio and later Senshi Digital, before changing to its current name of TMA. Chris is better known for both his book, How To Turn Your Online Lookers Into Bookers [2], and his audio and video podcast, The Digital Tourism Show.

Early Life

Chris was born in Glasgow and is the son of a Scottish mother and Portuguese father. He has lived in Glasgow all his life and attended St Peters Primary School in Partick until the age of 6 before moving to Knightswood where he attended Corpus Christi Primary School and then St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School. He lived at his parents home until the age of 21.

Career

A keen illustrator, Chris left School at 16 and landed his first job drawing images for children's educational books at Jordanhill School. Soon after, he landed a role at his first design agency Lateral Line, working on accounts for Coca-Cola, Nissan and Fiat.

Dojo Design Studio

On the 1st February 2008, Chris co-founded Dojo Design Studio with then business partner Tom Hart and quickly found a niche for both tourism and renewable energy.

Senshi Digital

After a management buyout in 2010, Chris changed the name of the company to Senshi Digital and restructured the business to focus on the tourism sector only, specifically Tours and Activities. The accumulation of this came after winning a contract with Gray Line Worldwide, the oldest and largest sightseeing company in the world.

Tourism Marketing Agency

At the end of 2017, Chris sold the website development arm of Senshi Digital to Palisis, a leading booking and reservation platform for the tours and activities sector, and launched a The Tourism Marketing Agency on the 9th January 2018, still focusing on marketing for the tourism sector.

Touriosity

November 2020, Chris launched a commission free Online Travel Agency (OTA) called Touriosity which acts as a platform to promote tour and activity businesses. It is a non-profit which sole aim is to help grow direct bookings for its members.

Media

YouTube Show & Audio Podcasts

Chris hosts a show called The Digital Tourism Show [3] [4] which helps to educate tourism businesses on how to market their businesses. He also invites special guests from across the industry and beyond to share their knowledge. As of October 2021, the show has reached 262 episodes.
