Chhayan-I is a small village of 12824 hectares in Pokaran Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chhayan-I depends on POKARAN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Chhayan-I is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Chhayan-I's pin code is 345023[4], and village code is 02049400. The area of Chhayan-I is segregated as 2683 hectares unirrigated, the 8687 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 1454 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Chhayan-I has One post office (Chayan B.O) and Two public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Chhayan-I has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Chhayan-I is a census village in the district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1087 and has total administration over 157 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of POKARAN and Jaisalmer to sell wool and make their living.
