Chathura Ranasinghe (born 1994) is a Sri Lankan journalist [1] and a presenter.

Ranasinghe is mostly covering about Athletics [2] in Sri Lanka – and also including football, Rugby and Cricket[3] – since 2016. Ranasinghe began his Journalism career as Writer/ Presenter of Colombo Media Company, thePapare.com as a Sports commentator [4]before joining Liberty Publishers in 2019.

Biography

Chathura Ranasinghe was born in 1994 in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Ranasinghe grew up in Colombo of Sri Lanka. After attending the St Mary’s College Veyangoda for five years, Ranasinghe received a scholarship to attend Nalanda College, Colombo. In college, he played Cricket and after attending to the university he started playing American football. He was a part of an American football team of Sri Lankan “COLOMBO LIONS” the Pakistani Club “Pakistan Wolfpak” in 2016. While still on the team, Ranasinghe graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management at NIBM (National Institute of Business Management (Sri Lanka)).

Career

After graduating in 2016 at the age 22 Ranasinghe began his career with thePapare.com, which he credits as giving his "a start in media”. Ranasinghe joined at thePapare.com as a Presenter and a Journalist, before he was promoted to a Journalist [5] position where he is working (Liberty Publishers Private Limited) today. He has covered more than fifty of Interviews [6]and thirty events including South Asian Junior Athletics Championship in 2018. He contributes his precious work for three main List of newspapers in Sri Lanka (Sathi Aga Aruna [7] – Daily Aruna – The Sunday Morning [8]). Most recently The Liberty Publishers won “Sabuddhi Sports Newspaper of the year 2019” and Ranasinghe was one of the proud Journalists who was Outstanding Contributions to Journalism.
