Charan Kanha Sandu was born in Humpkhedi village near Chittodgarh in Mewar. In the battle of Haldighati he fought alongside Maharana Paratap against the Mughal Emperor Akbar's forces[1]. Later, being eye-witness, he also wrote a heroic song describing the battle of Haldighati[2]. He was gifted a village called Mirghesar(Mirgeshwar) in the region of Godwadd. Maharana Pratap gifted Tamra-Patra (a copper plate describing the grant of the village) to Kanha Sandu in the presence of Bhamashah. The Tamra-patra holds historical value as it proves that the region of Godwadd was under Maharana Pratap's rule during that period[3].
