Chad Quandt is an American television writer, producer, and showrunner. He has written for Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, Wizards: Tales of Arcadia, Unikitty!, and Star Trek: Prodigy.
Career
Writing
Having grown up in Indiana, Quandt first worked in the television industry as a camera operator for local PBS affiliate WTIU before becoming host of children's educational show The Friday Zone.[1]
After moving to Los Angeles, Quandt worked for Disney Digital Network#As Maker Studios|Disney's Maker Studios (formerly known as TheGameStation), hosting and writing shows such as The Daily Byte, Chad Chomp, The Holodeck[2], LORE in a Minute, and FriendZone.[3] He later returned to create the puppet series The Remember Hour.[4]
In 2012, he was hired to write an adaptation of The Brave Little Toaster[5] and a live-action feature based on the classic comic strip Heathcliff.
Quandt wrote on all three seasons of Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia for Netflix, produced by Dreamworks Animation. The team was nominated for multiple Emmys, including winning the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Writing For An Animated Program.
Along with writer Aaron Waltke, Quandt was co-head writer for Unikitty![6], a spin-off of The Lego Movie, for Warner Bros and Cartoon Network.
Quandt returned to co-showrun the third series in the Tales of Arcadia franchise, Wizards: Tales of Arcadia.[7][8] This series setup the final movie Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans.
Having wrapped del Toro's award-winning fantasy trilogy, Quandt served as a producer and writer on Star Trek: Prodigy, an animated series for Paramount+ and Nickelodeon created by past collaborators The Hageman Brothers.[9]
Most recently, Quandt worked with Lauren Montgomery to develop the adaptation of Tony DiTerlizzi's three book young adult series The Search for WondLa. The show is in production at Skydance Animation for AppleTV.[10]
Other Projects
Since 2014 Quandt has produced and hosted the comedy podcast Goosebuds with co-hosts Paul Ritchey, Kevin Cole, and (formerly) Dominic Moschitti. The show covers 90s young adult books, including the works of R. L. Stine|R.L. Stine.
In 2022, Quandt released the first issue of the comic book Rite of Rumble: Wrestling With Demons. It was co-created with illustrator Kayla Cline.[11]
