Cas van de Pol (Tilburg, February 20 1996) is a Dutch freelance animator and YouTuber, best known for his comedic animation videos on his YouTube channel, which has over 7 million subscribers.[1]
Biography
Van de Pol was born in Tilburg on February 20 1996, and attended mavo at 2College Wandelbos. He pursued a vocational education in animation at Koning Willem I College in 's-Hertogenbosch. He mentioned in an interview with Cartoon Brew that he learned almost everything about animation either at home or during his internships at the animation studios Klomp! Animation and Frame Order.[2]
Van de Pol started making YouTube videos when he launched his first channel, which was fully dedicated to creating Minecraft animation videos. After he stopped that channel, he began his current YouTube channel in 2014 with his first video Colorfight. After obtaining his vocational diploma, he stated that he already had a decent audience and decided to test full-time YouTube for a year, which he ultimately continued doing.[2]
He began the The Ultimate Recap series in 2018, a short animation video that summarizes a specific movie, series, or video game in a comedic style. He also notes in his videos that they are not intended for children, due to the physical violence and adult themes that often appear in his cartoons. The series debuted when he uploaded a recap of the first book of Avatar: The Last Airbender. After uploading his third video in the series about The Lion King, it went viral, amassing over 50 million views with the cartoon.[3]. In early 2022, van de Pol introduced shorter versions of 1 minute of the recaps in the form of YouTube Shorts.
As of October 2024, his videos have been viewed a total of over 2 billion times.
In Dutch, van de Pol is also active on Twitch, and he has a Dutch YouTube channel called Kas van de Pol.[4][5]
