Carolina Zoccoli (Rio Verde, 29 de setembro de 1982), known as Carol Zoccoli, is a Brazilian Philosopher, Actress, Comedian and Writer.

Her TV credits include: Comedy Central Brazil’s panel show A Culpa é da Carlota, Stand-up Special Lugar de Mulher on Netflix Brazil; Netflix UK’s Perfectly Legal; Prime Video’s LOL, CBC in Canada and Saturday Night Live Brazil.

In 2013, Carol moved to Toronto, Canada, where she studied and worked at The Second City for seven years. In Canada, she performed three stand up acts at CBC, the biggest Canadian TV Network and was part of major CBC Radio shows such as The Debaters and Accent on Toronto.

Currently, she lives in New York. She was part of NBC Breakout Festival (Chicago) and Netflix is a Joke Festival (LA) rosters.

Carol Zoccoli was the first Brazilian comedian to release a comedy album in English: Legal.

During the 2022 Brazilian Presidential Elections, Carol went viral with her character “Patriota” spreading an absurd conspiracy theory: the aliens had arrived and exchanged the Presidential candidates’ bodies. Lula was now Bolsonaro and Bolsonaro was now Lula. The video was taken as true by both Bolsonaro and Lula supporters until the press clarified the story.

Biography

Carol Zoccoli graduated in Philosophy at Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and has a Master in Aesthetics and Art History.

2000’s

She began her career in 2007 with stand up comedy performances in São Paulo, performing in Portuguese.

In May 2008, Época magazine named her São Paulo’s break out comedian.

She had her TV debut in 2009 as a contestant in Custe o Que Custar. Carol was awarded second place in a controversial competition where the network’s website registered the record of complaints received up to that date.

2010's

Carol’s play 50 Minutos was part of the Curitiba Fringe Festival. Directed by Nany People, Carol played a woman addicted to oreos in a session with her odd therapist.

Carol was a writer for the first improv TV show in Brazil: É Tudo Improviso.

In 2010, she was hired by Transamérica Radio to join the team of Transalouca 4.0’s hosts. She and her co-hosts won the AIB (coloca o link da entrada da Wiki da AIB) award for best variety radio show.

She has created, written and performed The Porangaba Show, a sketch show at Band.com.br

In 2011, she attended the École Nationale de l'Humour and the Ligue Nationale d'Improvisation, both in Montreal, Canada.

She co-wrote the book Rock Suicídio along with nineteen other authors released by Prumo in November 2011.

In May 2012, she premiered on Saturday Night Live Brazil, where she was a writer, cast member and Weekend Update host.

In August 2013 Carol immigrated to Canada. That same month, with a basic knowledge of English, she started taking classes at Second City. From 2013 on, Carol will work as a comedian both in Portuguese and English.

In 2015, she was among the eight finalists of Jokenation, a contest that sought a comedian to represent the US and Canada region at the Montreaux Comedy Festival (Switzerland). Also in 2015, she was the recipient of the Tim Sims Award in Toronto.

In 2016 Carol was chosen as one of the Sway in the Morning Comedy Search’s finalists at Caroline’s on Broadway.

In 2017 Carol has her debut on Canadian TV, with her stand-up set at the CBC’s Halifax Comedy Festival.

In 2018 she tapes her first stand-up set for CBC’s Winnipeg Comedy Festival and her first appearance at CBC Radio’s The Debaters. In that same trip to Manitoba, Carol performed for 200 male inmates at the Stony Mountain Institution.

In 2019 she filmed the Netflix special Lugar de Mulher and debuted as one of the hosts of the Comedy Central Brazil’s panel show A Culpa é da Carlota.

2020's

In 2020 Carol tapes her second stand-up set for CBC’s Winnipeg Comedy Festival and her third appearance at CBC Radio’s The Debaters.

In January 2022, Carol Zoccoli was the first Brazilian comedian to record a stand-up comedy album in English: Legal.

In December of that same year, Carol appeared on Amazon Prime’s international hit show LOL.

Carol was at Netflix is ​​a Joke Festival’s roster in Los Angeles.
