Carlos Coronado is an award-winning Spanish game developer who creates games utilizing Unreal Engine 4. He is a solo developer who sometimes works with another development team in charge.

Personal life

Carlos currently lives in Barcelona, Spain. Aside from being a game developer, he also works as a professor at the University of Barcelona, where he teaches game design.

Coronado creates games for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Steam, and Oculus platforms. He first started becoming a game developer after he made Warcelona, a successful mod he made for L4d2, which became one of the most downloaded mods for the game. Following its success, Coronado started creating his own games with Unreal Engine 4, which include:

  • MIND: A Path to Thalamus
  • Annie Amber
  • Koral

Koral is one of Coronado's most notable games, as it received a DEV GRANT award. He made the game as, how he claimed, "a love letter to the oceans and a big part of that is to make the player feel what divers feel when they scuba dive."[1]

Coronado has received awards from Epic Games, which include:

  • A MEGA GRANT award for the Unreal Engine 4 courses he created on Udemy.
  • A DEV GRANT award for Koral.[2]
