The son of the late Don Carlo Gambino, Carlo was born in 1934 at the Staten Island University Hospital in New York.
In 1956, he was introduced by Nee and Nin (Catherine Castellano and Catherine Profaci, to Dorothy Colombo (Dids), (daughter of Salvatore and Frances Colombo and third cousin to Fransesco Vella, Don Carlo Gambino's Grandfather), whilst on a trip to Palermo, Sicily.[1]
This introduction was re-enforced some months later by Michael and Rosa Greco in Palermo whilst they attended a party at Tomasso Gambino's residence with Michael Corolla, a distant relative of Carlo Gambino Senior's great grandmother, Rosa Cavallano. The two were married three years later in Staten Island and emigrated to Australia to escape the bloody mafiosa wars in New York in the early 1970's. They had one child, Alan Robert (Robert) who was born in Victoria, Australia in 1977.[2]
