Carl Rhodes is an Australian academic, author, and public intellectual known for his work on business ethics, democratic accountability, and the political dimensions of corporate life. He is currently Professor of Business and Society.[1] at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Business School, where he served as Dean from 2021 to 2025.[2]
Academic Career
Rhodes has held professorial appointments at several universities, including Swansea University, the University of Leicester, and Macquarie University.[3]. His academic research focuses on the intersection of ethics, politics, and corporate practices, with particular attention to how businesses influence democratic institutions and social justice.
He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the editorial boards of Human Relations',[4] Organization Studies,[5] Organization[6] and the Journal of Business Ethics[7]. He is also the series editor of Routledge Studies in Business Ethics[8].

Rhodes is a regular contributor to major media outlets, including The Guardian, ABC News, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Australian Financial Review[9], where he writes on topics such as corporate accountability, economic inequality, and the role of business in society.

Rhodes is listed on Stanford University's database of the world's top 2% most-cited scientists[11] reflecting his influence in academic research. In recognition of his scholarly contributions, Rhodes was awarded a Doctor of Letters by the University of Technology Sydney in 2017.
