Caoilfhionn Rose (pronounced Keelin Rose) is an English singer-songwriter and producer from Manchester. Her music blends folk, jazz, ambient and electronic influences. She released three studio albums on Gondwana Records: Awaken (2018), Truly (2021) and Constellation (2024). She has collaborated with The Durutti Column, Slowly Rolling Camera and Danish jazz duo Svaneborg Kardyb.
Career
Rose signed with Matthew Halsall's Gondwana Records and released her debut album, Awaken, in 2018. The Line of Best Fit described the record as exploring "nature and consciousness with the fragile folkedelia of 'Awaken'".[1]
She contributed vocals to Chronicle XL, a 2014 album by The Durutti Column, which featured the single "Free From All The Chaos".[2]
In 2021, Rose released Truly, her second album, also co-produced by Kier Stewart. Clash magazine named lead single "Flourish" its Track of the Day, describing it as being about "looking forwards with hope and possibility".[3] Atwood Magazine called it "a record of healing and connection, recovery and self-discovery" that is "as gentle, soft, and unassuming as it is absolutely stunning".[4] The Arts Desk described the record as "vibrant, subtly strange".[5]
Her third album, Constellation, was released in 2024 and featured a wider range of musicians including Jordan Smart (Mammal Hands) and John Ellis (The Cinematic Orchestra), expanding her sound with stronger jazz and electronic influences. The album was toured extensively, with Rose making appearances at the EFG London Jazz Festival in November 2024, where she opened for Brandee Younger,[6] and at Manchester Folk Festival in March 2025.[7] ukvibe awarded the album four stars out of five, describing Rose as "forging her art with care and intelligence, blending well a songwriter's fancy with a producer's ear".[8]
In 2025, she released "Illusions", a collaboration with Danish jazz duo Svaneborg Kardyb, and "The New Way" with Slowly Rolling Camera.
Musical style
Rose's music blends folk, jazz and dream pop, featuring layered vocal harmonies, piano and electronic textures. Her lyrics frequently explore themes of nature, recovery and self-reflection.
