C.B. Bernard is an American writer who lives on the Rhode Island coast. He worked as a journalist in Alaska, where he wrote for newspapers in Sitka and Homer as well as magazines including the now-defunct Alaska Southeaster, and he has written widely for publications including Gray’s Sporting Journal[1] and Catapult[2]. His work has been excerpted in the Utne Reader[3].

In 2013, Publisher's Weekly[4] chose his book Chasing Alaska: A Portrait of the Last Frontier Then and Now as a Top 10 Pick. The following year it was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award[5] in nonfiction. His debut novel, Small Animals Caught in Traps, was published in 2023. His second novel, Ordinary Bear, will be published in April 2024.
