César F. Lima is a Portuguese psychologist and neuroscientist, and a tenured associate professor in the Department of Psychology at ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon.[1]

His work focuses on the auditory system, including the cognitive and brain mechanisms involved in music, vocal communication, and emotion[2]. He has made contributions to the study of brain plasticity related to music training[3], music psychology[4], transfer of learning between music and non-musical domains[5], emotional prosody[6], speech perceptionUnderstanding rostral–caudal auditory cortex contributions to auditory perception[7], auditory imagery[8], and vocal emotional expressions[9][10][11].

Education

César F. Lima received a B.A. and a PhD in psychology from the University of Porto. From 2012 to 2016, he worked in the laboratory of Sophie Scott at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London.

Career

After working as a research associate at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London (2012-2016), César F. Lima returned to Portugal to join the faculty of University Institute of Lisbon (Iscte), where he conducts his research and teaches courses on cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience.
