History
BurdaLuxury was established in 2000 as a subsidiary group of Hubert Burda Media, a German media company founded in 1903 by Franz Burda Sr. in Philippsburg, Germany.

Controversies
In 2023, Prestige Kuala Lumpur hosted an annual Prestige ball under the theme 'I dream of India'. The event was negatively received by mass media, and faced backlash on TikTok, Reddit[9] and Instagram. Indian influencer Nandini Balakrishnan took to Instagram to discuss the event and its execution of cultural appropriation [10]. The company later issued an apology on Instagram to address the backlash [11].
