Bumper is a provider of vehicle history reports and hosts an online vehicle marketplace for automobile shoppers. Founded in 2020, Bumper is a subsidiary of the Lifetime Value Co.

Bumper's data sources are derived from federal government agencies such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), vehicle theft data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Crime Information Center, American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators[1] (AAMVA), and the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System[2] (NMVTIS).[3] Additionally, Bumper collects data from state-level departments of motor vehicle agencies[4] in order to provide localized data in its vehicle history reports, and uses third-party sources like J.D. Power, among other providers of automotive data and insights.[3]

Bumper offers vehicle history reports, VIN and license plate lookup services, and an online vehicle marketplace.[5] Bumper competes with CARFAX and other vehicle history report providers, while attempting to offer access to much of the same public data vehicle information at lower costs per usage via its subscription model.

The company also publishes data studies on trends in the auto industry, especially on electric vehicles. These have been the basis of or mentioned in prominent publications, including The New York Times,[6] USA Today,[7] MotorTrend,[8] Jalopnik,[9] Chicago Tribune,[10] and Yahoo! News.[11]

Bumper partners with many automotive service providers to offer its subscribers exclusive discounts on services, such as Jerry, OpenBay[12], SpotHero,Sam's Club, and Sirius XM.[13]
