Bukkapatnamu Naveen Nischal is an Indian politician from Hindupur (Assembly constituency) of Andhra Pradesh. He belongs to the YSRCP Congress party. He is the Parliament President of YSR Congress for Hindupur (Lok Sabha constituency). He contested from Hindupur Assembly Constituency in 2004 as the Indian National Congress candidate, in 2009 as an independent candidate and in 2014 as the YSR Congress party candidate.

Early Life

Naveen Nischal was born to Dr Sai Prasad and Smt Malati in Bukkapatnam on 27 June 1968. His father, Dr Sai Prasad is a Mathematics Professor and mother, a housewife. He is the second child of three. He has an elder sister and a younger brother. He did his schooling in SJP School, Hindupur and went to Shankara Nandagiri College, Guntakal for intermediate education. He has done his Bachelor of Arts from SDGS College, Hindupur. Later, he enrolled in LLB in Renukacharya College Of Law, Bangalore. [1]

Political Career

Naveen Nischal has been very active in politics since his student days. During 1989 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, his relative Gajula Somasekhar got a ticket from the Indian National Congress party to contest from Hindupur Assembly Constituency against the then incumbent Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N.T. Rama Rao who contested from Telugu Desam Party. He had to discontinue his Law course to pursue a full-time career in politics.

Election Results

Naveen Nischal contested elections thrice from the Hindupur Assembly Constituency. In 2004, he contested as the Indian National Congress candidate but lost to P Ranganayakulu of the Telugu Desam Party. In 2009, the Indian National Congress denied him a ticket. However, he contested as an independent and stood second to P Abdul Ghani of the Telugu Desam Party pushing the Indian National Congress candidate to a distant third. In 2014, he contested from Hindupur on YSR Congress ticket against cine hero and the son of N.T. Ramarao, Nandamuri Balakrishna.
