Bruna Dantas Lobato

Bruna Dantas Lobato is a writer and translator of Brazilian literature. Her translations include seminal story collections by Caio Fernando Abreu and novels by Jeferson Tenório, Stênio Gardel, and Giovana Madalosso.

In 2019, her translation of Moldy Strawberries by Caio Fernando Abreu received the PEN/Heim Translation Fund Grants[1], and in 2023, the same book was longlisted for the PEN Translation Prize[2] and the Republic of Consciousness Prize[3]. She currently serves on the board of directors of the American Literary Translators Association[4]. She has also served on the jury for the National Endowment for the Arts[5].

Dantas Lobato's fiction writing appears in The New Yorker[6], Guernica (magazine)[7], A Public Space[8], and other publications. She has also given public talks on the subject of Exophony|exophonic writing and translations[9].
