Brooke James Corey Crawford (born 1966) is an Australian figure skater, former National Figure Skating Judge, and current International Ice Skating Union Data/Replay Operator Technical Panelist.[1] Crawford is currently the only Adult Australian Figure Skater to have won an International Gold Medal in all current skating disciplines, including Free Skating - Men,[2] Ice Dance,[3] Pairs,[4] and Synchronised Skating.

Early life

Brooke Crawford was born in Sydney, Australia, the youngest of twins and the 11th child in a family of 13 children.

Career

Crawford began skating in Sydney’s western suburbs at Blacktown Ice Arena, coached by Charmaine Barnsley. He moved to Macquarie Ice Rink and was coached by Russian Gold Medalist and Ukranian Ballet soloist, Vyacheslav "Slav" Aleksandrovich Baboshin (also romanized Baboshyn).

Crawford won his first gold medal competing in Oberstdorf, Germany at the ISU Adult International Competition.[5]

Crawford moved from Free Skating to Ice Dance and partnered with Canberra born Helen Beale under the guidance of coach Paul Huehnergard, a former Canadian pairs figure skater.

Together with Beale, Crawford competed at Australian Nationals (1st Place Adult Ice Dance), ISU Adult International (1st Place Pattern Dance, 5th Place Free Dance),[6] Le Coupe de la Montagne (The Mountain Cup), and Villard de Lans, France (1st Place Pattern Dance, 4th Place Free Dance).[7] Crawford and Beale parted ways and he began skating with Heidi Fernside, a silver level free skater from Bankstown NSW. They competed together at the ISU Adult International competition in Oberstdorf Germany, placing 8th out of 10 couples.

Crawford then moved from Ice Dance to Pairs, skating with Kate Crowe. He changed partners when Crowe moved to Finland. He began skating with Talitha Licauco, a Philippine born Adult Silver skater. The pair were coached by Kristen Trenni and Andrew Dodds and competed at the International Skating Union North American Adult Competion, Vancouver, Canada, in the Pair division, finishing in 1st place above Finish husband and wife team, Agnes Lindinger and Andras Neiser.[8]

Due to training scheduling issues-clashes, the pair parted ways and Crawford went back to Ice Dance, skating with CFSC member Aylin Dulagil.

Crawford and Dulagil are currently training at Macquarie Ice Rink and are competing in Masters competition both locally and internationally.

Crawford is an active Australian Ice Skating Official and has been Team Leader for Ice Skating Australia at World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama Japan 2018, and Montpellier France 2022, Junior World Figure Skating Championships in Sofia Bulgaria 2017 and Calgary Canada 2023, Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs 2023.
