Brittany Inge is an American actress, singer, and activist from Laurel, Maryland. She is best known for her television roles in the BET series Boomerang and the BET+ sitcom The Ms. Pat Show, as well as her performances on stage in both classical and contemporary theatre productions.[1]
Early life and education
Inge was born and raised in Laurel, Maryland. She attended the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C., before enrolling at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
Career
After college, Inge began training and working professionally as an actor. She performed in numerous productions at Atlanta’s premiere theaters, including Father Comes Home from the Wars, for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf, Holler If Ya Hear Me, and the U.S. premiere of The Ballad of Klook & Vinette. She later appeared in the Broadway revival of Home by Samm-Art Williams.[2]
Her television and film career includes appearances on Atlanta (FX), The Passage (FOX), Dynasty (The CW), The Resident (FOX), Survivor’s Remorse (Starz), Love Is _ (OWN), and the feature film The Hate U Give.
From 2019 to 2020, she portrayed Crystal Garrett in the BET series Boomerang, executive produced by Lena Waithe and Halle Berry. Inge currently stars as Ashley James, the eldest child of the titular character on The Ms. Pat Show, a BET+ sitcom that has received multiple Emmy nominations.[3]
Artistic vision
Inge describes her theater work as her “grad school experience” and continues to move proudly between stage and screen. She has stated that she is committed to creating art that is courageous, impactful, and honest.
