Brice Bexter El Glaoui (born 25 July 1990), also known as Brice Bexter is an international actor, recognized for his appearance in the award-winning political drama "Redemption Day.” Bexter has been credited for his versatility and has secured acting roles in a number of high-grossing films such as The Moderator, Atoman, Greetings from ISIS, and TV shows including Glow & Darkness.[1][2]
Born in Switzerland, Bexter grew up in multicultural surroundings amidst renowned national personalities. His grandfather, Hassan El Glaoui, was a globally renowned Moroccan painter, and his great grandfather, a very important political figure in Morocco.
Bexter was named one of the Arab Stars of Tomorrow 2020 by Screen International,[3] who are making their impact on the global stage, honored at the Cairo International Film Festival in December 2020. He has also become a pioneering figure in the Moroccan community and is highly praised for his sharp skill sets and looks.
Early life and education
Bexter was born on July 25, 1990, in Lausanne, Switzerland, and grew up in Rabat, Morocco. His father was a British Czech and his mother a French Moroccan, who got divorced when Bexter was young. He and his brother were raised by his maternal grandparents. His grandfather, Hassan El Glaoui, was a globally renowned Moroccan painter, and his great grandfather, a very important political figure in Morocco who was friends with Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin.
Later after graduating from Lycée Descartes high school, Bexter enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute NYC and acquired an acting degree. He then went to Regent’s University London to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Management, and then to UCL where he received his master’s degree in Management in 2016.
Career
Bexter began his career in the film industry in 2007 when he got the opportunity to become a standing light double of Leonardo Dicaprio and Mark Strong on Body of Lies which was shot in Morocco. After this experience, he was hired as an extra on the movie GreenZone the next year. Bexter continued to pursue his career in the industry after that along with completing his master’s degree.
Bexter then returned to Morocco, where he gained a lot of acting experience. In 2017, he appeared in his debut short film for the Moroccan Ministry of Environment in the context of COP22. In the same year, he was a part of a national water brand campaign in Morocco, as well as other minor roles. In 2018, he landed a role as Templeton in the film adaption of the popular Miss Fisher TV show, Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears, as well as a supporting role in Mehdi Elkhaoudy's independent film Greetings from ISIS. In March 2020, the film was chosen as one of the best films of the year in Morocco at the National Film Festival of Tangier. He was also named one of the Arab Stars of Tomorrow by Screen International at the Cairo International Film Festival in December 2020.
In early 2019, Bexter was cast as a secret service agent for Morocco's anti-terrorist organization in the political thriller Redemption Day. This was his breakthrough role, and it gave him a lot of future opportunities as well as a lot of fame. Since then, he's landed roles in a number of upcoming films, including The Moderator, Atoman (the first Moroccan/Arab superhero feature film), and Glow and Darkness on Netflix. Bexter has also starred opposite Meryem Zaimi, a well-known Moroccan actress, in Mohamed Abderrahmane Tazi's upcoming biographical film on women sociologist Fatema Mernissi.
