Brian Patrick Nelson-Palmer (born June 29, 1983 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American personal development consultant focused on life balance and practical productivity. Brian is known in particular as the founder of Productivity Gladiator.[1], and his widely viewed TEDx talk in 2022.

DC Music Rocks - Syndicated FM Radio Show & Podcast

In 2016, Brian founded DC Music Rocks, which was a syndicated FM Radio Show and Podcast which shined a spotlight on the Washington DC Region’s local music scene[2]. The weekly show ran from 2016 to 2019 with more than 100 episodes[3] and was featured on several DC news sources including CBS/WUSA9[4], Petworth News[5], and the DCist[6]

The most notable guest was an episode which featured Ian MacKaye of Dischord Records, hardcore punk band Minor Threat, and post-hardcore band Fugazi.[7]

In 2017 the show expanded to include an annual local music festival at Washington DC’s 9:30 Club[8][9]

In 2022, Brian launched his second podcast, as a part of his work with Productivity Gladiator.[10]

In 2014, Brian founded the band Fellowcraft with his longtime friend, JR Macdonald.[11] The duo added additional members and went on to perform together, until Brian stepped back from drumming in 2019.[12][13][14][15]

Brian was also featured in Diabetic Living Magazine[16] and other media[17] for his achievements as a drummer and type 1 diabetic.

On June 25 2022, Brian delivered his TEDx Talk on time management at the TEDxWhiting in Whiting, New Jersey[18] titled Re-imagining The team at TEDx published the talk in November 2022[19], featured it on TED.com[20]

The Wammies

In 2018, Brian volunteered to join a small team to facilitate the reinvigorate the Wammies, after being acquired from the Washington Area Music Association. Brian began as the program’s Nominations Chair[21], and has continued on as the Nominations Administrator[22]

Early life

Nelson-Palmer was born on June 29, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Michael “Mike” and Cynthia “Cyndy” Nelson-Palmer.[23] Brian was diagnosed with Type 1 Insulin Dependent Diabetes at age 4.[1]

Nelson-Palmer completed a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Florida State University in 2005.
