Brandon Chastang (born November 1, 1981), popularly known as “BMCFLY”, is an African American motivational speaker, activist, actor, and director. He is COO of COYS (Center of your Smile) Dental Academy. B McFly is an avid community empowerment reformer and is known for motivating people, especially youngsters to bring about a change in society.[1]

B McFly also uses his voice to share his testimony and encourages numerous others with his life experiences. He continues to stand up for his beliefs regarding the long-standing urban issues and inspiring people about critical thinking when facing life's biggest hurdles. Chastang, since he got sober, has been helping others fight against addiction, gun violence and has become a pioneering figure on fatherhood, education, and mental health awareness.[2]

B McFly, in a short period, has managed to acquire over 70,000 followers on Instagram. His groundbreaking work has resulted in him getting featured in high-tier media outlets including NY Weekly, LA Wire, The Chicago Journal, and others.

Early life and education

Chastang was born November 1, 1981, to Jeannine Chastang and Antonio Grigsby. When Chastang was born, his parents were teenagers and drug addicts. He was primarily raised by his grandmother. Chastang completed his secondary school at Overbrook High School and earned his bachelor's degree at Lincoln University in 2004.

On July 4, 2004, Chastang got into a fatal shooting soon after graduating from college. Later, he got prescribed Percocet pills for the pain, which led him to struggle with addiction for 14 years. After suffering in agony and battling addiction, Chastang, ultimately with the help of Aocean Clarke, admitted himself to a drug rehabilitation program and has been sober ever since.

Career

Chastang began his career as an influencer and public figure when he founded BMCFLY (Being Motivated Comes from Loving Yourself) after 30 intensive days of treatment at the rehabilitation center. He simultaneously became the COO of COYS (Center of your Smile) Dental Academy.[3]

Chastang produces multimedia videos and runs a self-inventory, Studio D Podcast Production. He established this as a psychological test, in which people fill out a survey or questionnaire. His Self-inventories are designed to ask direct questions, about personal interests, values, symptoms, behaviors, and traits. It is different from other already existing tests, as it facilitates a scope for subjective perceptions based on people's opinions.[4]

Chastang aims at helping people become the best version of themselves through several social media campaigns and supporting them through the journey of getting into rehab, along with providing a safe avenue by raising the conversation on sensitive topics to fight against addiction.[5]

Chastang's Season 2 of the Self Inventory podcast focused on helping those who suffer from addiction. In the recent past, he has also decided to collaborate with a few organizations like “NoGunZone” in Philadelphia to help bring down the growing crime rates.[6]

BMcFly (Being Motivated Comes From Loving Yourself) online, since its inception, has gained over 20 million views in 15 powerful skits, which have led Chastang to become one of the top creators on social media.[7]

Personal life

Chastang is married with four kids named Brandon Chastang Jr., Taya, Sincere and Sundae. Chastang lost his mother in 2015 and his father in 2020. He is fluent in english.
