Boris Hiestand (Amsterdam, 1980) is a Dutch animator, director, and voice actor. Hiestand is the owner and director of Molotov Pictures, based in London; where he has provided design, pre/post visuals, animation production, and voiceover services since 2016.

Biography

Early life

Hiestand is originally from Amsterdam but has lived in London, Munich, Bristol, Vancouver, and Bangkok. From an early age Hiestand always loved acting and drawing and knew from the age of 14 that he wanted to become an animator. He often recorded voices for fun in his spare time to animate. He worked on a few commercials then made a voiceover demo that he submitted to see what would be made of it, and has since done voices as a "sideline" to his animation career.^[1]

Career

Hiestand started his first major project as an animator in 2003 on the German animated film Jester Till. After working as an animator on other animated projects, he worked on his first blockbuster Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as an animator. He has worked on major animated films such as Hotel Transylvania and The Angry Birds Movie. He also worked on MCU blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He worked with visual effects on the film Dolittle from 2020.

From 2017 to 2018, Hiestand directed 50 episodes of the animated series Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed!. In 2020, he also contributed to the animation in the computer game Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Hiestand also works as a voice actor for various animated series, movies, and computer games. He provided the voice of Sigma in Overwatch,^[2]^[3] Marl in Anthem^[4], Kwolok in Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Rued, Fenrir, and Gorm in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, among others.^[5]
